The Propelair Contour Pulse urinal combines IoT connectivity, an advanced algorithm, and a concealed sensor to deliver water savings of up to 99%.  The sensor periodically detects liquid. If liquid is present, no flush is needed, allowing natural flow to keep pipes clear. This means the urinal flushes only when necessary, not after every use, based on real-time usage patterns, delivering water savings of up to 99%.  Only when no liquid is detected in the urinal, for a specified period of time, does the system trigger a flush, preventing uric acid build-up and unpleasant odours.

Fresh urine doesn’t smell because it’s 95% water. It only starts to smell after a few minutes, when bacteria turn it into ammonia. Since this is a slow process, there’s no odour in the first five minutes, so waiting five minutes before flushing saves water before any smell develops.To put it in perspective, we can smell freshly cut grass long before we’d ever smell ammonia.  Ammonia has to be about 20,000 times stronger before we notice its odour, after only five or more minutes.
