The durable design means that Propelair is well suited for heavy use, high traffic areas and challenging environments.

Propelair is one of the most water efficient, economical, and hygienic toilet systems available

In a significant step towards a more sustainable
future, the groundbreaking Propelair OneThreeFive
toilet utilizes only 1.35 litres of water for a 100% clean flush and is, what we believe, one of the world’s most water efficient toilets, saving up to 85% of water compared to the average conventional toilet. This translates into water bill reductions of up to 60% meaning that a return on investment can be in as little as one year, bringing clear financial benefits to our growing customer base operating in the healthcare, manufacturing, retail, education, transport, commercial, and industrial markets.

Propelair is a patented, high-performance toilet that easily fits onto existing drainage systems.

Its concealed cistern contains an isolated reservoir of water, an air pump and an electronic control unit. When the closed lid activates the flush, a small amount of water washes the pan, followed by a high velocity jet of air, flushing away the waste before the water trap refills again.

How do we compare

The lack of success in alternative sanitary systems together with inferior competitor claims truly sets the Propelair toilet apart from other market options. In many cases, traditional and innovative alternatives require double flushing to clear content, resulting in significantly higher water usage than their designed cistern capacity. Leakages from retrofitted alternatives also compromises the objective of saving water.

Standard ToiletsWater flows from the cistern into the pan under gravity, carrying the waste out into the drain. The flush is dependent on a sufficient volume of water to clear the content. Some ‘low flush’ toilets compromises performance, resulting in double flushing.
VacuumThe vacuum process requires the building to be fitted with a central vacuum drainage system which draws waste out of toilets during flushing. They require little water to flush due to the power of the vacuum but are energy intensive and cannot connect to existing drains.

Dual FlushThis uses the same flushing principle as standard toilets, but the cistern is provided with a reduced flush of no more than two-thirds of the full flush which is intended for liquids as opposed to the full flush intended for solids. This reduction in water required for a full flush of solids may result in double flushing.

Pressure Assisted
These systems improve performance by using the pressure of the incoming refill water to compress an air store, which acts upon the next flush to boost water flow into the pan.

Macerating
Instead of flushing with water flow and gravity, waste is shredded into slurry and electrically pumped through small-bore pipes to meet the drain. This can be noisy and prone to blocking the shredder.

Compressed Air
When the toilet is flushed, a trap door opens to allow the waste to drop into a second compartment. Within this compartment, a compressed airline forces the content through a small-bore waste pipe.

Competitors cannot match Propelair’s highly disruptive, patented technology in any of the key performance areas.
We outperform all alternative and low-flush technologies.

  1. Instead of flushing with water-flow, waste is chopped up and turned into slurry, then electrically pumped along a small pipe to meet the main drain. Noisy in operations and prone to maintenance on the “dirty” side of the pan to fix problems. The extra equipment also requires more space.
  2. Specialist systems that operate on a difference of air pressure in the drainage system, but cannot connect to existing drains as they need their own special drainage system to create a vacuum.
  3. Similar to vacuum toilets, but operates using high pressure compressed air instead of vacuum.

FAQs

  • Can a soft-closed lid be used?

The lid must be sealed properly in order for the toilet to work as intended. There is currently no soft-close option available.

  • Is the toilet designed for the domestic market?

The current concealed cistern design is engineered for high footfall areas, including customers across the healthcare, manufacturing, retail, education, transport, commercial and industrial markets.

  • Is 1.35 litres enough water to flush a toilet?

Extensive tests, at different flush volumes, has proven that 1.35 litres of water is sufficient for a clean flush.

  • Does the reduction in water increase the risk of blockages?

No, a Propelair toilet does not increase the risk of blocked drains. Extensive tests by independent, accredited organisations have proven 1.35 litres of waters to be a suitable minimum flush volume, even in high use facilities.

  • How do I clear a blockage?

Blockages can be dealt with in the same manner as a traditional toilet blockage. Conventional plungers or rods can be used by your plumbing contractor. The Propelair OneThreeFive version can be manipulated through a simple series of latch movements to trigger a dry flush, powered by pressurized air to potentially unblock drains, swiftly restoring optimal performance and eliminating public washroom inconvenience.

  • What drainage system can be used?

The toilet connects to the main water supply and discharges waste into a standard drainage system of 110mm but also offers flexibility by being able to discharge into a 50mm drainage system.

  • What is the guarantee on the toilet unit?

Propelair offers a 12-month warrantee, based on normal usage and installation by a certified partner. Normal conditions exclude damage due to power losses, serious drain blockages, and physical abuse.

  • How are Propelair units cleaned and maintained?

Propelair’s rimless pan and side hinges make previously hard-to-clean areas easily accessible, ensuring that a high level of cleaning can be maintained. The unit can be cleaned with water and soap. A cleaning manual is available for training purposes. Please contact us to obtain your cleaning manual.

  • Can anyone install the product?

Due to the required site assessment and warranty conditions only Propelair recommended and trained installers are permitted to install the product. We have local installers within every region that we operate in. Please contact us for a comprehensive spec sheet and installation guide.

The Propelair toilet uses a 24V control module, an air pump, and a water pump, to achieve the required water savings. Propelair offers flexibility in power sources. The need for a 24V battery is eliminated when opting for a live feed from the toilet unit directly to the electricity mains. However, the 24V battery option is available for specific applications. The electrically connected version consumes a mere 0.33Wh of electricity per flush.

  • Are electric toilets safe?

Yes. The Propelair toilet has been tested to and complies with BE EN 60335 parts 1 and parts 2-84

  • Will the toilet be operational during a power outage?

Propelair OneThreeFive can be fitted with a 24V backup battery that supports up to 80 flushes, every three minutes, for four consecutive hours before requiring a 2-hour recharge, making it ideal for electricity-stressed areas. All Propelair 1.5-liter toilets are fitted with a backup battery.

  • How long will the batteries last?

Based on 100 flushes per day, the batteries will last up to 2 000 days or 5 ½ years.

  • Does the need for electricity increase the cost of use?

Minimal electricity use is offset by significant water savings. The electrically connected version consumes a mere 0.33Wh of electricity per flush.

  • How does IoT work?

Equipped with a smart IoT-connected system, the toilet’s control unit provides feedback to service engineers through data transmission, streamlining maintenance and reducing downtime.

IoT is available for new installations but can also be retrofitted, allowing our existing and new customers to benefit from accurate and real-time maintenance diagnostic alerts.

  • What does the asset tracking QR code offer?

Efficient resource management is crucial. The Propelair Asset Tracking QR code system offers real-time call logging, assists with maintenance scheduling to optimize resource allocation, asset history log to store information in one easily accessible place, instant alerts for maintenance needs, cleanliness concerns and warranty expiry dates and customizable reporting on performance analysis and call out frequency.

  • Why is a Propelair OneThreeFive toilet more hygienic than a conventional toilet?

The Propelair OneThreeFive offers triple protection for users. It incorporates Polygiene BioMaster additives in frequently touched areas like the latch, seat, lid, and seal to prevent germ growth. The close-to-flush technology minimizes the spread of germs by preventing the “sneeze effect.“ A powerful single flush eliminates 99.9% of contaminants in just 1.5 seconds, surpassing conventional toilets which leave up to 6% of previous users’ contaminants.
