Following the installation of Propelair toilets, Clearwater Mall achieved a 75% reduction in water consumption, saving 11,840,000 litres of water annually. Prior to the upgrade, the public washrooms consumed approximately 15.8 million litres per year. This has now been reduced to just under 4 million litres annually, delivering substantial and measurable long-term water efficiency gains.

The reduced water consumption delivered annual savings of R852,654.60 on water bills alone, providing a strong and measurable return on investment. The installation achieved full payback in just 1.3 years, while reduced blockages, fewer call-outs, and lower maintenance demands further improved operational efficiency and ongoing cost savings for the facility.

By significantly reducing water consumption, Clearwater Mall also achieved a measurable environmental benefit, cutting its annual carbon footprint by 12,272 kg. These savings directly support the mall’s sustainability and ESG objectives, strengthening environmental reporting, reducing resource intensity, and demonstrating meaningful action toward lower emissions and more responsible water stewardship in a high-traffic retail environment.
